These numbers are from puzzles played on SudokuSudoku. They say how long a level takes, and what share of those plays were solved, given up, failed, or left unfinished. The page is the public side of the anonymous stats described in the privacy policy.

How a play is counted

Sharing is a setting, on unless you turn it off. When it is on, the game records a start as a puzzle appears and a finish when the play ends. Solved means the board was filled correctly. Gave up means Reveal Puzzle. Failed means the four-mistake limit, and you left that game for a new one. Undo after the fourth mistake stays in the same play, so it is not a failure yet. Abandoned means the play was replaced by another puzzle, or it was still open a day later. Closing the tab does not abandon it, because the game is saved on the device and you can resume.

The clock is the timer on the board. Pause stops it, so the median is active time, not how long the tab was open. Hints record how many you asked for and the hardest technique among them. Notes are a yes or no. The device class is phone, tablet, or desktop from the width of the window, not from a user agent string.

The browser stores a random id in local storage, not a cookie. It is only there so one browser does not count the same puzzle twice. The server does not store an IP address, a user agent, or a fingerprint, and it does not receive the puzzle or the solution. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland that id is not created until analytics storage is allowed in the consent message. Elsewhere the Settings toggle is enough. Turn "Share anonymous play stats" off to delete the id.

How to read the charts

A group is shown after 20 finished plays. Smaller groups say "Not enough data yet." The default window is the last 30 days. All time is the other switch. Daily is counted on its own, including today's solve rate. The other levels are free play, including practice started from the skill ladder, and those numbers do not include the daily puzzle.

The median is the middle solved time. The 25th and 75th percentiles are the times a quarter and three quarters of solved plays were at or under. "You beat X% of solvers" on the solved screen uses the same 30-day solved times, and only once that list has at least 20 solves. Gave up, failed, and abandoned plays are in the outcome bar and not in the time chart. The technique list is the hardest hint on plays that used a hint. Solves with no hints are the separate percentage, not a bar in that list.

Today's daily: not enough data yet.
