Hi, I'm Ethan Ede.

I build websites for a living, and have for over 20 years. I also play a LOT of Sudoku. Most days it's the New York Times puzzle in their app, usually with coffee, sometimes with Teddy's head on my knee wondering why I'm not throwing the ball.

Here's the thing though. I'm not a Sudoku genius. I have a ceiling. Some days I fly through a Hard, and some days a Medium stops me cold and I have no idea why. That "no idea why" part is what got me building this.

Most Sudoku sites grade puzzles by how many numbers are on the board. That's not really how it works. What makes a puzzle hard is the one move you can't see. So SudokuSudoku solves every puzzle one step at a time, the way a person would, and the hardest step sets the level. When you're stuck, the hint doesn't just fill in a number. It points at the move, names it, and links to a page that explains it with an example you can play with.

Is it perfect? Probably not. But it's honest, and it's built by someone who gets stuck too.
